* K-12 enrollment on the state's 2025-26 BESE approval list; federal survey enrollment for schools not on that list. "BESE-approved" means the school can accept LA GATOR tuition if it registers in Odyssey for the year. "Not approved" schools can't be paid tuition from the account.
The largest non-Catholic campuses
By the state's enrollment figures, the largest approved Christian schools in the eight parishes are Westminster Christian Academy (Lafayette) (481), Westminster Christian Academy (Opelousas) (415), Lafayette Christian Academy (377), Acadiana Christian School (302), Highland Baptist Christian School (295). Ascension Episcopal School in Lafayette reported 520 K-12 students and runs pre-K through 12; the Episcopal School of Acadiana splits its grades between a Lafayette lower campus and its campus in Cade.
Two federal-to-state mismatches are worth knowing about. Lafayette Christian Academy and Northside Christian School in Crowley each appear on the state list under a site code that covers only grades 8-12, while the federal survey describes each as a pre-K-12 school. If you are enrolling a younger child, ask the school which of its grades are covered by the BESE approval, because that decides whether LA GATOR can pay tuition for that grade.
Newer approvals
6 approved schools outside the Catholic system carry a nondiscrimination approval dated 2022 or later: Beginning of Knowledge, Episcopal School of Acadiana (Lafayette lower campus), Immanuel Christian School, Montessori of Acadiana, REACH Institute on Farrel, Youngsville Christian School. Several reported no K-12 enrollment, or very little, when the state compiled its list. A new school can be a good fit; ask which grades actually run this year and how many teachers are on staff.
Member discounts and the order of the math
Church schools often discount tuition for members of the sponsoring congregation. Ask whether the discount is taken before or after the account is applied, and which fees are billed through Odyssey as required fees.
