* K-12 enrollment on the state's 2025-26 BESE approval list; federal survey enrollment for schools not on that list. "BESE-approved" means the school can accept LA GATOR tuition if it registers in Odyssey for the year. "Not approved" schools can't be paid tuition from the account.

New Iberia has the most choice

Iberia Parish has four approved schools and all four were on the 2024-25 STO list: Catholic High School, Acadiana Christian School, Highland Baptist Christian School, St. Edward School. Catholic High School starts at grade 4, which is unusual on this list; the other Catholic high schools in the eight parishes begin at grade 6 or grade 9. St. Edward School runs pre-K through grade 3, so the two together cover the Catholic path in town. The federal survey also lists Epiphany Day School, an Episcopal pre-K-5 school in New Iberia, which is not on the 2025-26 BESE-approved list.

St. Martin Parish

St. Bernard School in Breaux Bridge is the parish's largest approved school, a pre-K-8 Catholic school. The Episcopal School of Acadiana's middle and upper school in Cade is approved for grades 6-12 and was on the STO list. The federal survey lists Louisiana Christian School in Breaux Bridge, which does not appear on the state approval list.

St. Mary Parish and Morgan City

Hanson Memorial School in Franklin covers grades 6-12 and St. John Elementary in Franklin covers pre-K-5. Central Catholic School in Morgan City runs pre-K through 12; Morgan City is the one part of the eight parishes that belongs to the Diocese of Houma-Thibodaux rather than the Diocese of Lafayette. The Chitimacha Tribal School at Charenton is on the approved list as non-accredited approved and reported no enrollment to the state.

What to ask down the bayou

Several schools here are small, and families in Franklin, Berwick or Morgan City often weigh a short drive against a long one to New Iberia or Lafayette. Ask how many students are in your child's grade, whether there is a carpool from your direction, and, at the two Catholic schools that end at grade 5 or 8, where most of their students go next.

Find out what your child's account would pay in Acadiana

Answer five quick questions. A local advisor calls back with your likely award, the approved schools near you, and how to cover any balance.
