Dual enrollment at UL Lafayette and SLCC, and where LA GATOR fits

What UL Lafayette charged high school students in 2025-26, where South Louisiana Community College has campuses, and how the account treats college courses for enrolled and home-based students.

Acadiana high school students have two college options close to home for earning credit early: the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and South Louisiana Community College. How LA GATOR fits depends on whether your student is enrolled full time at a private school or learning at home.

UL Lafayette's program

According to the university's University Connection office, the 2025-26 high school dual enrollment program was open to students who had finished their junior year, were on track for the TOPS core curriculum, held at least a 2.50 unweighted GPA and met qualifying test scores. Tuition was $200 per three-credit face-to-face course and $300 per three-credit hybrid or online course, not counting textbooks, course fees and parking. Students could take up to seven credit hours a semester and could not take honors, UNIV 100 or major-restricted courses such as engineering or nursing. Applications for 2026-27 opened April 1, 2026.

South Louisiana Community College

SLCC has campuses in each of the eight parishes this site covers, from its main campus in Lafayette to campuses in Crowley, New Iberia, Ville Platte, Opelousas, St. Martinville, Franklin, Morgan City and Abbeville. Ask the college and your high school what dual-enrollment courses are offered at the campus nearest you.

How the account fits

Enrolled full time at an approved school: the account pays that school's tuition and required fees. College courses are paid from the account only if the school includes them in what it bills. Ask whether dual-enrollment courses are part of the program and how they are charged.

Learning at home: dual enrollment is an approved marketplace category, so a home-based student can use the award for college courses from a provider registered in Odyssey. Confirm the college is listed before you register.
